Want to Own an Affordable Unit? Reside New York Can Help!

Success! On Wednesday, January 9th, 2019, Reside New York held a seminar in Saratoga Library on Boyland Street, Brooklyn NY. The hour-long evening session educated NYC residents on how to apply for an HPD Homeownership Affordable Unit.

The city-sponsored opportunity discussed was 151 Somers Street, Brooklyn, NY, a newly developed condominium located at the nexus of a transportation hub in the vibrant Ocean Hill. Each apartment features a beautiful state-of-the-art kitchen complete with stainless-steel appliances and quartz countertops, individually controlled split-unit A/C, laundry room, and plenty of storage space, amongst other great features.

But applying for a Home ownership Affordable Unit is different than applying for a rental; That’s why Reside New York held a three-part seminar to walk NYC residents through the process.

The seminar addressed:

1-Qualifications

how one qualifies based on household size and income. It was also noted that for a Homeownership Affordable Unit, no member of the applicant’s household may own, or have previously purchased, any interest in residential property.

2-The Application Process

the deadline for application, where to get an application, how to fill it out and where to send it upon completion.

3-Tenant Selection

how the tenant is selected, the interview process, prescreening and what type of applicants are generally preferred.

Reside New York would like to extend thanks to HPD representatives Shtara Pell and Roger Maxwell for their attendance, as well as all seminar attendees and participants. For more information about owning an Affordable Unit, please contact us here.
